Physical Oceanography

Physical Oceanography investigate the physical properties, circulations and the interactions with the climate of the surrounding seas and the oceans based on the geophysical fluid dynamics, predicts the behaviour of the seas by using the monitoring systems and mathematical models and tries to the explain the pollution, sediment transport and the effects on the ecosystem.

Physical Oceanography Program expect from the students with different background to integrate the theoretical and practical knowledge gained in the program to solve scientific problems in the physical oceanography. Students are expected to take an active role in scientific studies in the field of Physical Oceanography. Physical Oceanography is described by theoretical work, laboratory experiments, field observations, remote sensing and numerical modelling studies. This is, by its nature, creates big differences between graduate students in terms of interests and abilities. The program with strong equipment and infrastructure, provides both theoretical and practical training opportunities.
